Metrie’s Then & Now Finishings Collections Wainscot Moulding
At Better Decorating Bible, we LOVE the look of a well-dressed room. What’s a better way to achieve this stunning style than with wall finishings, or what you may know as moulding. This month, we had the special privilege of teaming up with Metrie, a company that creates beautiful interior finishings like wainscoting, moulding, and trims for your home. Being in business since 1926, their dedication to creating high-quality and finely crafted architectural elements has helped them become the largest supplier of solid wood and composite mouldings in North America!
Moulding is what makes a space look complete and it can instantly give your home a well-dressed, more expensive, and custom look. We like to think of moulding as one of the first things to consider at the beginning of a decorating project. For example, moulding can do a lot more than finish up your room. It can transform a whole wall into a room’s centerpiece by framing a large block of beautiful wallpaper (we love framing Chinoiserie wallpaper with mouding!), or by making your doors the stars of the show. After you’ve decided where to install your moulding, and what style, then you can continue choosing furniture and accessories.
Not only does moulding add a source of elegance and classiness to a room, interior doors also play a vital role in a room’s décor. Metrie offers interior doors available in solid wood and glass options. These doors create a cohesive look and highlight the beautiful architectural elements throughout the entire room.

Metrie has tons of different styles available that capture the unique character of each of their Collections. Glass doors with intricate overlay panels, solid interiors with beautiful moulding and craftsmanship. Whatever your style, you are bound to find something stunning that will bring some serious luxuriousness to your home. This specific door is from their Fashion Forward Collection:
So what are the perks of swapping your dull builders doors to these jaw-dropping beauties? Installing a door like takes your home from standard to custom Parisian-chic. It also makes it super easy to decorate your space after you have great doors, great moulding and architectural elements. Whether you are going for modern minimalism, French provincial style, or a bohemian loft look, your decorating will look chic and updated.
Create A Custom Framed Mirror with Moulding:
Here is another great example and DIY project using moulding that you can easily do at home. Metrie used their Fashion Forward Collection moulding plus their Ikons to create a customized mirror that looks stunning placed right over the fireplace. This is an ingenious way to fill up a large space above your fireplace and make your room look a lot bigger.
Instructions:
1. Simply, paint all of your mouldings and ikons and use a saw to cut your mouldings into lengths to match the size of the mirror.
2. Adhere the pieces of moulding and icons together to create a frame. Then adhere the mirror to the back of the frame and mount on your wall.
BDB Tip: To finish off your new sophisticated decorating, hang a beautiful chandelier in the middle of your room. The chandelier’s reflection in the mirror will help bounce light throughout your space and make it look brighter, larger, and more welcoming.
There are endless ways of using mouldings, finishings, and doors to amp up the space in your home. There are really no restrictions when it comes down to how and where you would like to install your mouldings and trim. With the right creativity and inspiration in mind, you can easily flip your home from bland to sophisticated and charming!
