Celebrity Home: A Sneak into Elton John’s Beverly Hills Paradise

Starting off spring with bursts of color, flair, and surprise is one way to get a head start on trends this 2013. Designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard stripped Elton John’s Los Angeles home and gave it a whole new look – bold blocks of color, patterns, and all while using lots of white!

So how did he do it? How about starting off with a base of white or light gray for walls, trim and even furniture. Then choose a few colors you adore and use them for your rug, coffee table, art work, and cushions. Martyn used a glossy pink over sized coffee table and a black and white zebra rug in the living room. In another space he used a white rug, but amped up the color with a bold green sofa. Are these new design rules exciting or what?

Bedroom Makeover – Gossip Girl Style

Bring an electric rocker-chic vibe to your bedroom with Gossip Girl as your muse. To create elegance on a budget, choose lots of reflective objects like the two side dressers purchased from Ikea below. Try an off-white paint color for your walls or even a warm grey hue.

To make this room pop and tie the overall theme together, I would have changed up the chez lounge and headboard with hot pink piping. The bed could also use a warmer comforter to make the room twice and cozy! Other than that, I love this cute bedroom with its many colors, prints, textures and upbeat hues. So refreshing!

DIY Friday: Framed Wall Collage

Looking to add some interest to your boring walls? Putting together a sleek modern day collage is something you can easily do to transform a plain white wall into a chic gallery of art. Cover your whole wall from top to bottom to create maximum impact with sleek matching frames in gold or black. For your artwork use black and white photos, musical notes, sketches, maps, or even pressed flowers and leaves. Make sure your frames are evenly spaced out since a crooked photo can easily stand out in a tight arrangement.

Take a look at how these designers used framed wall collages to turn their bare walls instantly chic!
