Happy Hollow – What it’s Like to Live in a Fairy Tale Home!
“Happy Hollow” was an interesting challenge by architects to transform a 1901 stone and shingle gambrel into the owner’s vision of a comfortable English cottage. For those of you that don’t know, a gambrel is usually a symmetrical two-sided roof home with slopes on each side. This home is really interesting and looks as almost hobbits could be living inside!
To make this fairy tale dream come true, the house had to be stripped, given a major change of plan and several additions were added. All architectural details were taken into consideration when decorating the interiors such as the stone walls, sloped roofs, and rounded rooms. I love, love the stone fireplace in the kitchen – ideal for a stone baked pizza!

2013’s Hottest Garden Trends for Your Home
Having left winter behind us, it’s time to get back out into the garden to spruce it up before the really warm weather arrives! Get the chairs and table out on the patio while following these top tips for what’s hot in the garden this summer:
Focus on seeds rather than plants – Suppliers are providing some really interesting mixes to make your garden unique. And should the wet weather of last year continue, you’re still going to see some stunning results from a hardy wildflower mix.
Grow your own garden - Growing your own vegetables is a great way to get everyone involved in the garden – kids will love planting, growing and preparing their own food to sit down and eat. Even if you’re limited for space, a small herb garden can provide you with a tasty salad garnish for those long summer evenings.
Garden lighting – Focus on the eco-friendly, solar-powered LED lights available now. Moon Jars are fantastically quirky and come in a range of different colors, which means you’ll be able to achieve mood-lighting outside as well as inside.
Space saving furniture – In terms of outdoor furniture this year, lightweight, stack-able chairs will provide great garden solutions for small spaces and they’re really easy to transport. You can also add a touch of sophistication to your backyard set-up with a fire pit table – perfect for sitting around with friends as the evening draws in, enjoying a glass of wine and some good conversation. Bliss!
