DIY Friday: Easy Halloween Projects
Get ready for Halloween in no time with these super easy DIY projects! No need for a crafty thumb, these projects can be done by just about anyone. This year try to take seasonal decorations into your own hands and avoid spending big bucks on items that will either get thrown away or take up a lot of storage space. Environmentally friendly projects using Indian corn, pumpkins, and garlands are the way to go. You can even try temporarily sprucing up items you already have around your home like the festive desert stand below.
Glazed Cinderella Pumpkins
What you need:
- Bronze metallic glaze
- Brush
- Urns or Pots
- Ribbon
Instructions:
- Choose various sizes of Cinderella pumpkins, having a larger one for the bottom.
- Paint them with bronze glaze by first dipping your brush in paint, wiping it off, and using the almost-dry brush on your pumpkins.
- Stack them up in your pots or urns and wrap them up with copper or black ribbon.
Halloween Desert Stand
What you need:
- Tiered dessert stand
- Halloween-patterned scrapbook paper
- Compass
Instructions:
Measure the sizes of your tiers and draw them out on your scrapbook paper using a compass. Cut them out and layer the circles on each tier. Pile them high with sugary treats for your little tricker-treaters!
Spooky Chalkboard Tray
What you need:
- Unfinished wooden tray
- Tinted Primer
- Chalkboard Paint
- Paintbrush
- Sand paper
- Tack cloth and towel
- Chalk
Instructions:
- Apply a layer of tinted primer and let it dry for three hours.
- Sand off any rough or raised areas and wipe it clean with a tack cloth for smooth surface.
- Apply an even layer of chalkboard paint and let it dry for three hours.
- Prepare the tray for writing by covering the whole surface with a large chalk stick on its side. This allows all future markings to be erasable.
- Wipe the chalk away with a towel and write your favorite spooky message and… voila!
