Your Next Bathroom Makeover – Make it a Pot of Gold

Go wild with your next bathroom makeover and try something unanticipated for a change.  Take a good peak into your bathroom – it’s probably a safe color with a bland bathroom set and not much thought put into the overall theme. Why not take advantage of a small, boring space and experiment with something you have always wanted to try. Think about it, if it doesn’t turn out right it’s always easy to go back!

This small space has huge potential so try out a metallic tone from ceiling to tile. Paint your crown molding along with your entire ceiling a metallic gold, and pair it with gold damask wallpaper. Install new shiny tiles to complete your space.

BDP Tip: If you are looking for a quick fix buy a gold faucet, mirror, frames, and… voila!

10 Country Style Kitchen Décor Ideas

Cook up a storm in your very own hillbilly style kitchen! Think wood paneling, checkered table clothes, organic cuisine and lots of fresh vegetables from your organic garden. Follow these 10 easy décor ideas to get you started:

1.) Flat Board Paneling – Install paneling for a barn style look either vertically or horizontally and finish it with a stain or paint. Put it on your island base and the fronts and backs of your cabinets.

2.) Genuine Flooring – Add a laid-back country feel with natural stone tiles with a weathered surface. For a more authentic look mix different sizes of stone.

3.) Island units – These units work well in large kitchens but make sure you consider what you want to include before you install them. Running electricity and water for a sink or stove are a must. For a temporary alternative you can always buy islands on wheels that can easily be stashed away for extra kitchen space.

4.) Color – Brighten up your space with dashes of barn red in curtains, table cloths, dishware and sideboards.

5.) Put it on Display – Show off collections of canning jars, cake plates, farmhouse antiques, and dishware with a shelving units or glass doors to your cabinets. You could also simply remove your cabinet’s doors and paint the interior for an instant display unit.

6.) Vintage – Choose hardware with a vintage vibe like old-fashioned knobs, hooks, and even faucets!

7.) Mix it up – Contrast old with new elements like a sleek black countertop paired with rustic cabinets and stainless steel appliances.

8.) Clash colors – A daring red wall would contrast perfectly with white shelving units. Try to make a big statement with bold colors to get a casual country feel.

9.) Ceiling – Add a bead board ceiling in a wood tone or a stain to give a farmhouse look to your kitchen. Rustic wood beams can also add a lot of depth, warmth, and character to your redecorated space.

10.) Kitchen Table – Choose a heavy wooden table that has an antiqued look to it. I’ve seen lots on the market made out of recycled wood with dents, scratches, and even marks from nails.

Make Over Your Attic – The Best Place in the House

Instead of neglecting your attic like most homeowners do, embrace it’s unique features and take advantage of the space you have available. This particular attic was renovated and designed using a traditional American décor style which I feel works best for this type of environment. Use tough outdoor fabrics for upholstering and even throw pillows to maximize their longevity in this one-of-a-kind space. A bar/kitchen, dining room, and family room all conveniently fit in one room making the perfect entertainment area.
