How to: Decorating with French Toile Patterns
French country is the ultimate design style for a relaxing and homey lifestyle. Vivid toile prints complete this look and attract the eye with their busy designs and patterns. A lot of people want to try out this look but are afraid of over-doing the toile theme. Over-decorating with this chic pattern isn’t that difficult since a small hint makes a huge impact. Make sure to stick to some of these simple tricks in order to get the look just right:
Focus – too much toile equals a visual overload. Focus on a few details like an accent pillow, window treatment, or a standout arm chair.
Combine – Simple geometric patterns like stripes, checks, and solids pair well with toile. Group no more than two color families together.
Wicker – For a natural look combine wicker or straw seating with comfortable leather furniture. Choose natural brown leathers with blue-patterned toile for the ultimate French country lifestyle.
Accessorize – Decorate like the French do with simple white porcelain pots and vases placed on a mantel or shelf.

O Suzani! – Bringing Folk Patterns into Your Décor Mix
Give your home a little edge with this Persian folk pattern popularly known as the Suzani. I love decorating with this sort of print since it isn’t only a pattern, but also a work of art added to your overall masterpiece. The intricate floral detailing and popular motifs such as leaves, vines, fruits, and flowers brings an instant fun vibe to your space. If you love this pattern and want to implement it into your décor scheme, try toning down the rest of the patterns and opting for a soft palette on your walls such as white, soft yellow or cream.

North Carolina Townhouse Makeover
A North Carolina townhouse got an exciting new makeover by designer Jamie Meres who assisted clients with their new rental home. Since the new couple were living here temporarily and didn’t want to break the bank, Jamie found a mix of catalog finds, Craigslist scores, refurbished items and local finds. I like how Jamie experimented with hues of grey for the walls which is totally of-the-moment for this year, as well as the amazing lamps she found on Etsy. The vintage chairs were all newly upholstered in vibrant and eye catching hues which work great for the summer months. Check it out:
