As a designer, writer, and entrepreneur, I’m obsessed with anything that is luxury, unique, or glamorous! I have a keen eye for style and love sharing all my ideas, muses, and projects with the rest of the design world! I love to travel along with Sophie, my mini Schnauzer whom I take on all my great adventures.

Granny Chic – Who Knew This Would Ever be in Style?
We all have childhood memories of Granny’s house and her perfectly decorated floral pillows, afghan blankets, quilts, tassels, doilies and fringed furniture. Who knew interior designers would take cue from this tacky style and bring it to designer homes throughout America? This style isn’t entirely shabby chic – it’s where shabby chic once originated from. So let’s take a look at some of the good, the bad, and the ugly of Granny chic. What do you all think, would you give it a go?

The Summer Goes On: Decorating Around Your Pool
For those of us that live in climates where the swimming pools are still open and the sunshine shows no signs of stopping – this post is for you. Most people think of interiors when they hear the word “decorating” and tend to neglect their garden, porch, patio, and pool areas. Try to not abandon these spaces and give them some stylish attention like the space around your swimming pool. Vibrant cushions can make all the difference as well as the zebra towel finds I found below – sooo fab! Break out the find dining with trays in floral patterns as well as citrus hues to really make a splash this season. Let summer live on!

The Joy of Color – The Most Exciting Hues for Summer
Welcome to the bright side where colors, patterns and styles clash together and make wonders to our homes. Drop the so call “design rules” and go with the flow: mix up colors and patterns in any way you like to create a space that’s full of life and warmth. Switching it up is what design is all about, so go with your gut and choose hues that really make you glow: think watermelon pink, lime green, creamy white and tangerine orange (some of my favorites!). Designer Jamie Meares knows how to do it best – check out her chic designs below:
BDB Tip: A great way to bring in a pop of electric color is through bright piping on sofas, ottomans, and stools. If you have trouble finding the right piece, try shopping online for an endless selection of unique furniture.
