After a dark and gloomy winter season it’s time for us to open up our homes to fresh new hues that liven and brighten up our spaces. A new trend that I love is using citrus hues to welcome the gorgeous spring season to come! Spring is all about a new beginning, so use this rule throughout your own homes as well. Slather on a fresh coat of lime green or even mint on your walls and stick to white for the trim, moldings, and accessories within the space. Pairing this juicy hue with watermelon pink or even lemon yellow makes a mouthwatering combination.

Preparing a wedding this spring? Consider hosting a light bridal brunch for a few close friends and family. Snack on light snacks and sip green tea from fine bone china all while enjoying the warm spring season and fresh blooms all around. I could picture myself sitting here in my finest mint colored Chanel tweed suit taking tiny bites of the frosted cupcakes and sipping a cool iced tea. The bridal brunch hosted here was for a special client and a few friends for the bride and her fiancé. It was held in honor of their approaching wedding and to break in the new dining room décor designed by Charmean Neithart Interiors.
With the whole world going through a recession the past few years, decorating your home has surely been a challenge for home owners and interior designers alike. Having to work within a strict budget and under sharp rules has forced us to use our DIY imaginations to get the look of high-style living.
We hope 2013 will be a little different since people are taking a shift from “saving money” to finding pieces that totally “reflect their style and personality”. Here are a few trends to keep your eye on which we hope to see throughout many homes this New Year:
Blue – Since green was a huge hit in 2013, the interior design world is looking a little blue this time around. It’s being used almost as a neutral tone. Instead of black, designers are opting for navy.

Yellow – Mellow yellows are muted against a lot of the neons we saw last year. The yellow this year is being used as a paler hue against darker and richer colors.
Stripes – There will be no escaping this trend after being all over the Spring/Summer 2013 fashion week shows. Designers love it since it brings “movement” to a room.
Femme Fatale – Feminine style with soft, curvy lines with pops of pink and purple. Don’t be mistaken, it’s not girly but sophisticated and classy.
Floral – Scandinavian influenced posies blossomed across your sofa, walls, or roman shades seem to be a huge hit this year.
Animal Prints – Don’t think zebra or leopard, but animals sprawled across upholstery fabrics. The most popular seem to be elephants and dogs. How cute!
Metropolitan – Think of a modern boutique with a dash of hotel sophistication. All the furnishings are more industrial with lots of clean lines.
