1 Color, 1 Room! Check out How These Designers Made it Work!

I know in the 17th and 18th century, designers loved to design each room with one theme, and one color only! When I toured the Schonbrunn Palace a few years back, I remember stepping into each room and being surprised. Every room had a different theme going on – the red room, the green room, the blue room, e.t.c. I always thought this was interesting as you didn’t know what to expect when entering a room. The rooms below have a modern take on this design style and used French toile, venetian motifs, and floral prints throughout each space. Pretty neat!

How to Decorate Your Home with a Fresh Garden Party Theme

It’s all been done before – bohemian, retro, western, regency – we have had enough! It’s about time designer Ernesto Garcia took us into a world of his own with a home designed with a Victorian garden party theme in mind. Here are some tips to help you get the look:

  • Start off with a neutral tone such as taupe or light gray for walls, and carpeting.
  • Deep purple and cream are the perfect color combination when used in moderation. Use this hue on pillows, benches, or coffee table trinkets.
  • Tiled fireplaces have now successfully swapped your traditional brick or stone.
  • Use delicate fabrics like the small silk floral pillows placed on the green side chairs.
  • Make way for bouquets and pots of blooming flowers.
  • Curtains and rugs in neutral colors with delicate floral prints bring the monotone walls to life.
  • Its all in the details – use intricate detailing on furniture like coffee tables and wall shelving units.

Granny Chic – Who Knew This Would Ever be in Style?

We all have childhood memories of Granny’s house and her perfectly decorated floral pillows, afghan blankets, quilts, tassels, doilies and fringed furniture. Who knew interior designers would take cue from this tacky style and bring it to designer homes throughout America? This style isn’t entirely shabby chic – it’s where shabby chic once originated from. So let’s take a look at some of the good, the bad, and the ugly of Granny chic. What do you all think, would you give it a go?
