Shopping Trip – One Stop Home Makeover at Nathan Turners

Always on the lookout for unique shops and boutiques I came across Nathan Turner’s interior design store on North Almont Drive in Los Angeles. The shop has a lot of rustic pieces with a western vibe which really reflects on the shop owner himself. Growing up in the San Francisco Bay area, Nathan spent many of his weekends at the family ranch in California where they would ride horses, and raise cattle. This may explain his new rugged leather line of furniture. He also mixes a lot of bohemian pieces like the suzani cushions, as well as some regency like the gold gilded bamboo mirror I spotted. Take a look!

DIY Friday: Make Your Own Designer Chair! West Elm’s Overlapping Squares

I’ve blogged about this funky chair previously on Better Decorating Bible, and received a lot of e-mails on where to buy and how to decorate with it. It looks like the chair is actually discontinued at West Elm as well as the chic daybed with overlapping squares they produced before. Luckily I found an easy DIY you can do at home to make your own dining chairs! I believe they retailed for around $200 before, so let’s give cheers to a budget friendly weekend! Keep reading for full instructions!

DIY Friday: The Most Wanted Day Bed – West Elm’s Overlapping Squares

The overlapping squares trend was a huge craze two years ago appearing in every designer’s portfolio. Fast forward to 2013 and this stylish daybed is discontinued driving us décor fanatics en route to Craigslist. I did a quick search on the internet and came across a full DIY tutorial to actually build the daybed itself! I couldn’t believe my eyes and immediately hopped over to my local Home Depot for all the supplies. What I love about this daybed is it’s the functionality; you can put it in your bedroom and use it as a bed, prop it in your sun room, or even shorten the legs and have it double as sofas in your living room. I’ve seen others even use it as an end bench in their bedroom, the options are endless!

There are two versions of this daybed. Click here and here to view the full DIY tutorial!
