After a dark and gloomy winter season it’s time for us to open up our homes to fresh new hues that liven and brighten up our spaces. A new trend that I love is using citrus hues to welcome the gorgeous spring season to come! Spring is all about a new beginning, so use this rule throughout your own homes as well. Slather on a fresh coat of lime green or even mint on your walls and stick to white for the trim, moldings, and accessories within the space. Pairing this juicy hue with watermelon pink or even lemon yellow makes a mouthwatering combination.

Decorating with red can be a little tricky but one thing’s for sure – designers say a home must have at least one red room. We’ve tackled this crazy color below to prevent you from making any mistakes you may regret!
- Use inspiration – Before settling on the right red hue, look at photos of other spaces that used an allover red for their walls. Get ideas and try to picture your own home bearing that color.
- Light works wonders – Take your paint chips into the bright sun during the day, does it look the same as it did in the store? Try it out during the nighttime, daytime, in natural and artificial light. Most colors change depending on the lighting so make sure you like all your color’s shades.
- Try it out – Take a sample swatch from your store and try it out on your wall at home. Let it sit for a few days and decide if you could live with it for the next few years.
- Be prepared – Clean up all your walls from any grease and dirt, mask all your woodwork, protect floors, and adjoining walls before starting to paint.
- Mix, Mix, Mix! – Deep bold colors are usually prone to streaking since they have much more pigment than regular colors. Mixing your paint really well can make a huge difference. If you are using two cans, make sure you mix the two together to get an even color all around the room.
- Save – Keep an ounce of paint for future dents, scratches or marks.

It’s all been done before – bohemian, retro, western, regency – we have had enough! It’s about time designer Ernesto Garcia took us into a world of his own with a home designed with a Victorian garden party theme in mind. Here are some tips to help you get the look:
- Start off with a neutral tone such as taupe or light gray for walls, and carpeting.
- Deep purple and cream are the perfect color combination when used in moderation. Use this hue on pillows, benches, or coffee table trinkets.
- Tiled fireplaces have now successfully swapped your traditional brick or stone.
- Use delicate fabrics like the small silk floral pillows placed on the green side chairs.
- Make way for bouquets and pots of blooming flowers.
- Curtains and rugs in neutral colors with delicate floral prints bring the monotone walls to life.
- Its all in the details – use intricate detailing on furniture like coffee tables and wall shelving units.
