Welcome to one of New York’s most remarkable Upper East Side duplexes, owned by none other than designer Richard Mervis. Richard usually stays under the radar, so peeking into one of his personal projects is almost impossible. Here we get a tour of Richard’s New York duplex which he shares with his real estate developer partner, Jeffrey Rosen. The two originally lived a floor below and purchased the above floor to shape both units into one apartment.
I love how Mervis keeps all of the walls in his home neutral colors. They are either white, beige, or covered with some kind of molding or wood work. The rest of the space is brought to life with interesting furniture, antiques and various textures like fabric, furs, and stone. If you were to use bright hues on the walls, this look would definitely not work out. Take a look at the gorgeous Chinese chinoiserie screens he propped up in their living room!
Check out Richard’s crib and stay tuned for more of the tour next week!
